Spain is making short rail journeys free, in Germany you can buy a whole country pass for 9 euros, Luxembourg made public transport free. And the UK? A return from London to Manchester will cost £196 next weekend. #RipOffRailways

New Flexi rail season ticket costs look a bit rubbish, a bit cheaper in terms of monthly cost, but with it costing twice as much per day with limitations of only having 8 days of travel a month. Add two extra days a month and its works out more expensive. #RipOffRailways

I’m on the train to Wales for a few days. It’s a 3.5hr journey as the train stops at every town, parish and garden shed en route and costs £88. It’s no wonder I usually drive. #RipOffRailways
