As a clerical abuse survivor, I pray that beyond the money involved through assessments, that the faithful in SF and beyond across the global faith community, realize that the wounds of victims / survivors hurt in the Church are profound. Trauma is the devil. But through sacramental grace, healing can be found and discovered in our shared Eucharist. The Paschal journey is hard. One Bread One Body. True restorative justice must always include listening to the voices of the wounded. We have faced the Cross. The Church must continue to come clean. Financial assistance will help. But, far more important in the years ahead under Pope Leo will be how he leads as his own man but in the spirit of Francis who penned in his autobiography released shortly before his death: "Covering up adds shame to shame." He was so right. ✝️
