β‘οΈ THUMPER TAIL IS ON THE EPL FOR BEHAVIORAL REASONS -He is not thriving in the care center and continues to display distance-increasing behavior when approached for interactions. He has not warmed up despite staff using treats and other methods to build a positive association. This designation often means that the cat will be given very little time for rescue/foster/adoption. π₯π₯π₯οΏ½οΏ½οΏ½οΏ½
What my friends at ACC say about me: I have lived with cats in my previous home. I'm an independent kitty who likes to do my own thing. I am looking for a home with a patient person. Thumper Tail, due to prior owner history and a bite/scratch history we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only cat parent home who has been well counseled on under-socialized cats. β‘οΈ MISS DATES IS ON THE EPL FOR MEDICAL REASONS β He is a sweet mature cat who is not eating in shelter due to a recurrent upper respiratory tract infection. He also has a heart murmur. He needs supportive care in a veterinary clinic and then a quiet home to convalesce. NOT EATING IS A DEATH SENTENCE IN THE SHELTER. This evaluation/diagnosis means that MISS DATES will be given very little time for rescue/foster/adoption.π₯π₯π₯π₯
A volunteer writes: Don't let the name fool you - Miss Dates is all gentleman! This sweet 8-year-old neutered male even had his photographer reaching for pink bows and flowers before the truth came out. (Everybody likes flowers, right?) Miss Dates was found by a kind Good Samaritan buried in the snow, trembling, dehydrated, and underweight. He was brought to the Manhattan Care Center, where he wasted no time making friends, greeting the entire medical team with head bunts. What a sweetheart! His past may be a mystery, but what you see is truly what counts: a friendly, gentle, and well-mannered gentleman who loves people and enjoys cozy company in his favorite cubby. He has blossomed since his arrival, gaining weight and strength with every passing day. Miss Dates does have a few special considerations - he sees the world through one eye, carries a prominent heart murmur, and has the distinguished senior teeth to match his wise soul. But none of that dims his loving spirit one bit. He is already neutered, has passed his behavior evaluation with flying colors, and is ready to go home today. After everything he's been through, Miss Dates deserves nothing less than a warm, safe, and loving place to spend his golden years. Could that place be with you? What my friends at ACC say about me: I have medical needs that staff will address with you when you meet me. Need some biscuits for your breakfast? I'm an expert kneader! Cheek and chin scratches make me so happy! Miss Dates is laying on his side, turning his head to look at the assessor as they approach and open the kennel door. He allows all petting, gently head bunting, leaning in, and making biscuits as he is pet. Miss Dates is able to be easily picked up, remaining calm when held. When placed back into the kennel, Miss Dates curls up at the back of the kennel, continuing to allow and lean into all petting and knead his blanket as he is pet. Miss Dates interacts with the assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is suitable for any level of adopter experience. A volunteer writes: We all need one(or two, or three) feel good moment in this chaotic world. Spending time with Miracle provides just that! Miracle is most often seen resting under her kuranda bed. As I enter her room(she is not in a kennel), Miracle slowly moves toward me. She is not on my lap but sits or lays next to me, makes discretely biscuits, purrs very distinctively and caresses my hand with her head. She stands by me, making no attempt to leave me.... I feel so at peace! Any noxious stimulus vanishes. I am in heaven! Miracle is with us as her very long time owner was going through difficult times. She comes with lovely comments(affectionate, playful, well mannered and enjoying a spa treatment) although she never met with kids, cats or dogs. Miracle seems to thrive on human companionship and being on her own, in a shelter environment, even that she gets lots of visitors, is not what her heart has in mind....I can see the way she looks at me(and others) when I glance at her from the outside of her private quarters. Miracle yearns for a home sweet home and the love of a new owner or family. Come and meet her very soon at the Manhattan Care Center, fall in love and take her with you! I can go home today! Miracle interacts with the assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. No known history of behavioral problems. This cat is suitable for any level of adopter experience. β€οΈ π»β€οΈ π»β€οΈ π»
