An update on the racecourse- open space land grab by the khoke sarkar, from what is heard: • A meeting was chaired by the illegal and immoral cm, along with 4 RWITC senior officials on 6/12/2023, at 11 am at Varsha Bungalow. The municipal commissioner was also present. • These senior officials have agreed to the virtual sell out and land grab of the 226 open space on the following norms- 1) 91 acres will be kept with the RWITC and the rest will be taken for “development” by the BMC. 2) 30 year lease agreement will be signed for RWITC 3) BMC will spend almost 100 crores on rebuilding stables at the racecourse to influence the other horse owners to agree to this proposal. Why should our taxpayers’ ₹100 crores be used where RWITC committee should spend? 4) The RWITC also has discussed something about a slum rehabilitation project without any clarity. 5) These 2-3 members of the RWITC have asked the BMC MC to give a flowery presentation to the rest of the members during a special AGM, to help the committee influence the rest. The point is, 1) Is every member of the RWITC/ ARC aware of this land grab proposal from the government? 2) Have the members authorised these committee members who had secret meetings before this official meeting for this blatant sell out of Worli Racecourse/ open space of Mumbai? 3) If the lease is over and the RWITC is ok to let go of the rest of the land, it can be reserved as an urban forest/ playground. But we will not let them build a single brick on this open space of Mumbai. 2-3 individuals cannot give away Mumbai’s land to the builder- contractor sarkar. We, Mumbaikars, will fight this out at every level and not let this land grab happen.
