Newman's later reply to critics of the #SB663 effort to allow disclosure of recall signatories' info: "The ballot in America is secret and that is kind of a hallowed sacred tradition. But participation in politics is not intended to be secret or anonymous."
The bill that's created a statehouse buzz this AM now up in Senate elections cmte: #SB663 would allow electeds who are subject to *future* recall efforts a chance to get info of voters who signed the petition. It would NOT apply to Newsom recall.
Opponents of #SB663 are outside the Capitol, calling into the committee, and yelling about not being let in.
Attendance is limited in the actual room because COVID, but there are three SB 663 opponents in the actual room, including Heatlie.
