Male #scorpionflies have tails that resemble scorpion stingers, hence the name. However, they can't sting. Their "stingers" are actually their genitalia! Here's another misnomer: scorpionflies are not actually flies. They are most closely related to fleas!
We saw both male and female #scorpionflies, one of the first groups in which #nuptialgifts were documented. The males#so genitalia looks like the #telson of a scorpion, but it just a harmless mimic.
