Under #Section497, a man who had consensual sexual intercourse with the wife of another man without that husband's consent could have been punished for this offence with up to five years imprisonment, a fine or both.
This was squashed. Because,
A) When a married man had sexual intercourse with an unmarried woman, no party was punishable;
B) while if a married man had sexual intercourse with a married woman other than his wife, the married man's crime was against the husband of that married woman, not against the man's own wife towards whom he had been unfaithful.
That was not equal for men and women. It was treating women as a property owned by a man. That is why it was squashed.

மனைவி பிற ஆணுடன் தொடர்பு வைத்திருந்தால் மனைவி மீது கணவன் சட்ட நடவடிக்கை எடுக்கலாம். ஏனெனில் மனைவி கணவனின் சொத்து.
ஆனால் கணவன் பிற பெண்ணுடன் தொடர்பு வைத்திருந்தால் மனைவி நடவடிக்கை எடுக்க முடியாது.
இந்த திருத்தம் வேணும்னு அங்க சொல்லி இருக்கு.
