Runs 1:22 Selig (1864–1948) was a seminal pioneer of the American film industry, best known for founding the #SeligPolyscope Company and for establishing the first permanent #moviestudio in #LosAngeles. Despite his title, #Selig was not a military officer; 'Colonel' was a self-appointed stage name he adopted during his early career as a #magician and #minstrel show manager. He is often referred to by #filmhistorians as the "Pioneer of Pioneers" or the man who "invented Hollywood."
