This won’t work. It likely won’t even delay the probable surge of cases here in Canada.
What will ACTUALLY work is implementing the @O_S_P_E recommendations.
Right here, @GovCanHealth :

1/2 The Government of Canada will require all travellers (regardless of nationality or vaccination status) taking flights to Canada originating from China, Hong Kong or Macao to provide a negative #COVID19 test before boarding, effective January 5, 2023.
@joe_cressy This is important. However, this needs to have professional engineers at the table. Bring in @O_S_P_E . Bring in @PEO_HQ members. Bring in @torontoashrae .

Civil and environmental engineers: take note.

Almost ready for our testimony for 🇺🇸Congress about wastewater epidemiology and its role in the new normal 🙌
“we can and should talk more about how to make indoor environments safer by filtering or cleaning air.”
now. Schools, restaurants, colleges, barbershops, nail salons…. We need improved HVAC and air filtering.

"The most common way COVID-19 is transmitted from one person to another is through tiny airborne particles of the virus hanging in indoor air for minutes or hours after an infected person has been there"...#COVIDisAirborne hallelujah! @drdavidmichaels

Good lord, why would someone with these credentials be flaunting this level of ignorance

Big take-away for engineering programs around the world: time to add and boost your wastewater courses.

@lenapatsa See a problem. Solve it.
Something's broken? Fix it.
Doesn't exist yet? Invent it.
It's what we're trained to do.

It's good to see #engineers being explicitly included when discussing new guidance on the indoor air quality in the fight against COVID.
Thank you @tsvia_soura @IAQinGWN and your co-authors!

@FurnessColin Public Health Ontario is also part of the problem. https://t.co/31gMwA616t
We need to be hearing from the province’s Chief Officer of Engineering.
Oh wait. We don’t have one.
And so we continue talking about vaccines. But nothing about HVAC, inadequate discussions about Canadian-made PPE.

Public Health is wrong.
It's a hard pill to swallow.
But our Public Health officials need to admit that they were too conservative. They underestimated the severity of COVID.
They need to step up and say:
1. "N95 or better in public"
2. #SendInTheEngineers on air quality
Yesterday I told my barber that she must switch to N95 masks immediately. She listened, & she's smart.
But she said she *can't*: if a public health inspector shows up & she's not wearing the prescribed, lousy, gaping blue procedure mask, she could be shut down.
So we're hooped.
And it's not "public health" that rebuilds HVAC.
It's not "public health" that measures air quality.
It's engineers. Professional engineers. And trades people. Qualified trades people working with the P.Eng's.
We need to #SendInTheEngineers.
Now.
This expert panel will include an Engineering perspective on aerosols and pandemics c/o @sameo416.
I think that @O_S_P_E @PEO_HQ @APEGA_AB @APEGNB_AIGNB @EngineersCanada @UAlberta_Eng @LassondeSchool @OIQ @EngGeoBC @EngGeoMB should let their members know.

@OSPE_CEO @O_S_P_E It's time for LTC, public school, university & college administrators to face the fact that existing processes have failed.
The need help. Professional help.
They need engineers to evaluate and then improve air quality.

@sameo416 Mechanical engineering students should be all over this. Design projects, lab experiments, computer models.

We built our second #corsirosenthalbox over the weekend. This time, it was my son who did it (with a little help from our dog).

Getting ready to build two Corthi-Rosenthall boxes to show to concerned parents how to implement safer classrooms.
will record a video of the construction with my kids… we are all in this together!
