Interesting thread - “dangerous” offences u can get deported 4 (other than murder, rape, trafficking as per @sajidjavid) inc criminal damage (keying car), public nuisance (organising a rave), cultivation of cannabis plants. law needs 2 change re deport of FNOs #shawamendment
Hi @ColinYeo1 could you give us some egs of kinds of offences carry over 12month sentence - thus triggering deportation orders for foreign nationals - but that most people might not deem serious enough for such draconian response esp for ppl who have lived here their whole lives?
Indeed. Without a #ShawAmendment original convictions need to be airtight & undisputed. And imagine going into a trial, knowing you may not only be given a prison sentence but also a further life sentence by being banished from your home country - while your neighbour will not

However 11 people were were given a last minute stay - can we be sure the 29 were lawfully on that flight? We need to urgently reexamine the laws that put them on there. #ShawAmendment

The ‘robust’ uk justice system will deal with them as they wld any other uk citizen
