Was asked about SN27 in the Nerds group last week and forgot to post the reply here as well. So here's the frustrating update (for us at least). 2 months ago, an OG approached us to help get a new team into Bittensor with a slot. We obliged of course and were quite excited about it. After all, this was a big NASDAQ PLC in the compute space. And they had just landed a 9 figure Compute contract. We thought it would be great for Bittensor. Anywho, we had a team ready to go on SN27, but they wanted a prestigious low number slot as opposed to a fresh new one. So we moved the team to another slot and agreed to sell them SN27. We agreed a rather low price actually. SN prices were like 800T at the time and we agreed 1000T for this slot, plus a nice discount for them on the alpha. All was agreed and then the slow corporate wheels of legal and compliance turned! After several weeks of waiting, SN reg costs were like 1500+ but we still honoured the 1000T price. And the alpha price discount was getting even deeper. Another couple of weeks passed and both parties happily agreed to rejig the slot price up as everything was moving up, but keep the alpha discount. No problem. More legal time waste... Then we got renegotiated back down to 1000T which we reluctantly agreed and got a 28 page sales contract through. Signed it, all was good. Was imminently about to close the deal, then a member of the PLC was suddenly exposed in some sordid scandal! At the same time, Conviction came in and they backed out of the deal. They blamed chain changes were too erratic, but in reality it was the scandal. 2 months of time wasted! Mark and I are used to doing deals that take days, not months. Really frustrating. If it weren't for the scandal, then it would have brought a lot of capital into Bittensor. Thankfully we have a bunch of teams that want slots. So we are filtering them by revenue potential and aiming to get 27 filled asap. We already have a team/project allocated for 69. Just getting all the jigsaw pieces together... We're getting a LOT of new teams pitching us, but most just don't seem to be likely to make revenue for a long time. Contrary to what the social media trolls say, we don't sit and horde slots. We get a team ready, buy a slot and then launch. Ignoring 27, we've never sat on a slot longer than a month without having a team ready to go. Anywho...moving forwards!
