I was partly inspired by the alien Giegue (not Giygas) from the Mother franchise in regards of this speculative evolution piece. These creatures come from an ice moon orbiting around a gas giant in the Gacrux system

As an ocean scout, Lapis’s conical teeth help her to catch food more easily.

Bugs AU concepts… this is how they would look irl to me I reckon. Plus clothes lore

I’ve been hesitant to share this but the Steven Universe ‘gems are bugs’ AU contains a lot more weird dystopian sci-fi vaguely body horror type stuff than… the original show for literal children…

There isn’t any reason why the gems that lived on Homeworld should look humanoid tbh

Think of a rhino crossed with a woodlouse, and you’re halfway there…

2016 vs 2023
From just a one-off doodle in my English class to a fully fledged species with their entire evolution, history, ecosystem, anatomy, and even biochemistry worked out.
Thank you.

Never tried this technique before, pretty good for a first try!

Portrait of a devitite, painted in the pre-scientific age (do not have a proper name yet for this period of their history)

Since devitites have no lips or tongue they can’t sip water from a glass like we do. Instead, their drinking implements look something like this

Another alien species from Helio. While the Whorlite resembles a fish, it is most closely related to the Devitites

Couple of aliens from the planet Helio. One on the left is a sandstalker, it filter feeds sediment at the bottom of swamps. One on the right is a scaur, it's basically just a giraffe but a bug. Enjoy! #specbio #specev #aliens #creaturedesign
