At the #STIForum, held in New York this week, delegates heard how the IAEA is working with countries to implement unique nuclear science and technology-based solutions to water challenges and assess their energy systems to integrate nuclear solutions into their energy portfolios.
Today, the United Nations Science, Technology and Innovation Forum 2026 (#STIForum) concluded with a strong call for inclusive, accessible, and action-oriented innovation to accelerate progress toward the #SDGs, while ensuring that the benefits of science, technology, and innovation are shared more equitably and reach those who need them most.
The Forum, organized by the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), emphasized the importance of addressing barriers that limit scalability, as well as the critical role of partnerships in delivering solutions on the ground.
In my statement delivered on behalf of the Association Maโonah for Human Rights and Immigration @AMHRIUSA during the Forum meeting held on May 5, I called upon the Forum and the international community to take urgent action in Yemen, particularly through integrating conflict-affected areas into UN digital transformation plans, supporting emergency connectivity projects, and empowering Yemeni youth to access digital entrepreneurship programs.
In my intervention, I highlighted the severe digital divide in Yemen, stressing that millions of Yemeni youth remain excluded from the digital innovation ecosystem due to the ongoing deadly conflict and the collapse of infrastructure. I also noted that more than 21.6 million Yemenis are in need of humanitarian assistance, while internet coverage does not exceed 27% of the population.
At the conclusion of my intervention, I affirmed that:
โInnovation cannot be achieved without engaging communities affected by conflict,โ emphasizing that Yemeni youth represent tremendous potential that requires support and empowerment, not marginalization.

It emphasized the importance of addressing the constraints that limit scale, and the critical role of partnerships in delivering solutions on the ground.
In my closing remarks, I underscored the need to bridge every digital, innovation, and capacity divide and ensure that no one - no community, no country, no young person, girls and women - is left behind.
