The family's older son, Dion Rudakubana, was born in Cardiff in 2004 and has a neuromuscular condition. In 2018, Southport-area Rotary clubs helped fund a new wheelchair for Dion after his father asked for assistance. He is also eligible for disability benefits, with Personal Independence Payment alone worth around £845 a month at the highest rate, while the family is eligible for other state support, including housing benefit. Added together, these benefits could potentially reach nearly £3,000 a month, according to calculations using an online benefits calculator, depending on the exact awards and housing support. The public inquiry into the Southport murders has revealed that the couple knew about their son's escalating behaviour and failed to act on the information. Sir Adrian Fulford said the parents had failed to report the escalation in their son's behaviour, while the inquiry examined the family's interactions with police, social services, healthcare and other agencies. The circumstances surrounding the Rudakubana household raise obvious questions for the British taxpayer. Three young girls were murdered. A man has been charged with murder after a man was shot in Newham. Sergiu Leahu, 40, of no fixed address, was charged on Monday, 24 August, with the murder of 42-year-old Masum Miah. Leahu is due to appear before Bromley Magistrates’ Court this morning. Around 03:00hrs on Tuesday, 18 August, police attended St Bartholomew’s Road following reports of a shooting. Officers attended with the London Ambulance Service. Mr Miah was found at the scene suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite the best efforts of emergency services, he sadly died at the scene.
