I have translated many #stotras from Samskrta to #Kannada very faithfully, set in an easy way to recite. In addition, I have written many "original" Kannada stutis too, but I am likely to recite a #Samskrta shloka impromptu, because that is what I grew up with.
Similarly I am likely to sing a song of Purandara Dasa or Tyagaraja, rather than one of my own compositions - because they are what I grew up with.
