I may have picked the worst day in 15 years to tout how bullish I am about the future. But bullish I am. And here's why: https://t.co/VuznuPiwi4 @NstreamIO @Swim #SwimOS #StreamingData #RealTime #Kafka

I recently stumbled across the #swimos stack for building stateful web services that interact via multiplexed streaming APIs.
I'am very impressed with the modern and lean java codebase which fully embraces Java modules and gets by with zero dependencies.

How do you combine REST and real-time data sources while trying to keep everything in sync? Maybe you just need a new consistency model: https://t.co/FgC2cm84Na @DZone #datafabric #swimOS #streamingAPI #opensource #java
The #cloud is caught behind a #stateless energy barrier. 80% of #developer time is spent integrating infrastructure. Vertical integration lets #SwimOS developers spend 80% of their time writing useful stuff, like self-training #neuralnetworks for online #artificalintelligence.

#WebAgents are vastly simpler to develop than #WebServices—and much more capable and performant. The hardest part is unlearning all the unnecessary anti-patterns used to build legacy #stateless #microservices. #SwimOS

@PasqualeVazzana @swim @statefun_io A browser is just another web agent—a user agent. #swimos treats browsers as first class cluster members. User agents dynamically link to web agents exactly the same way web agents link to each other. Fun to open https://t.co/hzHzePMgVk demo in multiple browsers and explore.
@PasqualeVazzana @swim @statefun_io #swimos polyglot approach is to run stateful methods, of sorts, attached to web agents. Encapsulated functionality can be mixed in dynamically, like if Scala traits and Akka `become` had a baby. Polyglot support is impl’d as mixin FFI traits, with a swimos kernel module to load.
@PasqualeVazzana @swim @statefun_io @statefun_io is great. #swimos is a little closer to stateful distributed objects than to stateful functions. Swim uses cache coherent links (distributed pointers) between web agents to efficiently operate on large amounts of real-time context, weaving many streams together.
@johnson_brad @PasqualeVazzana @swim @statefun_io #swimos has wip support for writing polyglot web agents using graal. Can dynamically mix-and-match Java and JS traits in the same web agent. We have typeclass-based dynamic lang bindings in swim-dynamic, and js driver in swim-js. https://t.co/zdOshYuavs
The more I learn about @swim the more I think that @statefun_io was inspired by it, I wish #swimos can now take something back ie: polyglotism. They are both very modern approach to stream processing and both deserve to succeed, I recommend to keep an eye on both of them.
If you haven't watched this yet, it really is 9 min well spent. Hear exactly why the stateful @Swim platform was created from @c9r, the person who created it. You'll be smarter after listening.

Edge? Cloud? On-prem? A sock drawer full of @Raspberry_Pi? Doesn't matter.
@Swim is the hottest architecture startup nobody knows about. I'm biased, so take it from @CRN. The apps speak for themselves.

Article: Kubernetes & SwimOS
In this blog post, we have presented the SwimOS platform to Kubernetes developers to help them get started with organizing distributed applications using real-time streaming data. https://t.co/6BBNn2ihva

BTW, that may read like criticism but it’s not. The #Azure teams have built some seriously compelling #IoT products. Probably your best bet to setup your environment. But ultimately you need to run an app, that’s where #swimOS comes in. #IoTinActionMS
