Culture is created one team at time. You can't just look at an average assessment, because you miss big opportunities. Michael Phelps and I have an average of 12 gold olympic medals. Think about culture in terms of teams and managers and you can make a bigger impact! #tEDchat

You'll never figure out how to create value for your customers inside your office. The best way is to have conversations with them in which you have nothing to sell. You just ask them about the relationship try to uncover your blindspots. #tEDchat

@tEDmagazine It helps having something to point to honestly if things are stagnant, like in a meeting. One of our mottos is “breaking new ground” & I’ve said in discussions “but how is this helping us break new ground?” That’s a gentle reminder for folks about thinking differently. #tEDChat

All of us reach a breaking point where we can't do even one more thing. I'm just suggesting we use that level of scrutiny before we are overwhelmed with work, to allow us to use our time in the most valuable ways. You don't score points on defense. #tEDchat

All of us have good habits that speed innovation up and bad habits that slow it down. Bad habits: Focussing on planning vs. learning, no one says no to anything, resistance to new ideas, no process to listen to customers, etc. Each team has bad habits they should find. #tEDchat

Innovation is like fitness. Everyone can be healthier. Some people can choose to be endurance athletes but that's not right for the vast majority of people. But all of us have little habits we can improve both individually and as a team! #tEDchat

@dianakander @ElectriFlexComp Great POV. I think sometimes people might get overwhelmed with “innovation” - thinking it needs to always be the earth-moving BIG IDEA. When small innovations added up can also be extremely beneficial. “Inch by inch, life is a cinch. Yard by yard, it’s very hard.” #tEDchat

@RyanLeighRob To me, your culture is the habits your team exhibits. Innovation is not a mindset! It's the activities you practice every day. Do people feel safe about proposing new ideas? Do they have a process to kill zombie projects? Do they run after action reviews? #tEDchat
