'The Kangra Hoard' is the third largest hoard of Gupta coins found near the Brijeshwari Devi temple, Kangra, HP, in 1905-06.
The coins were found by labourers in a bronze pot, who were digging adjacent to the Brajeshwari Devi Temple, a few hundred metres south-east of the famous Kangra Fort.
1200+ gold coins were found, weighing nearly 8 grams, mainly of Kumaragupta, Skandagupta & Chandragupta-II.
The coins found were in a superb condition, and are now held at British museum, Shimla, Delhi & Calcutta museums.
This find has given a fascinating glimpse of Gupta control over modern Himachal Pradesh.
But this isn't the only Gupta gold coins found at Himachal!
