Labour opposes higher wages (won't support pay demands) and Labour opposes lower rents (won't build council houses๐).
Stop asking me to vote for the opposite of what I believe in.
๐จ NEW: Rachel Reeves has announced that Labour will not spend public money on building houses.
This indicates that the party won't be building any new council houses, as that would require public spending. Corbyn promised to build 100,000 council homes per year (ยฃ75bn cost).
@Veracityscape @howdyandy Agreed, though I think the tories have already enabled their own defeat, and the press will give Lab a very easy ride now they are persuaded Labour will look after the interests of rich people. The lower the joint vote for Labour and Tories the better.

I hear Neal Lawson, director of Compass, a leading advocate of cross-party co-operation, has been expelled from the Labour Party for committing "a prohibited act". His offence? Apparently, back in 2021 he described a cross-party deal in Oxfordshire as "grown-up politics".
Astonishing, isn't it, that people who hold the same views and represent the same interests can also stand to be in the same room together.
