Reform UK leader Nigel Farage has proposed sending some prisoners overseas to serve their sentences, as part of a raft of measures he says would create around 30,000 prison places and cost £17.4bn.

Excellency @Keir_Starmer , I could not sleep throughout the night as I reflected on what happened during the public meeting held in the #UKParliament, chaired by a #UKMP, in the presence of officials from #Kinshasa and representatives from several international organisations.
During the session, after I shared my remarks about the root causes of the conflict in Eastern DRC—highlighting issues such as discrimination and the long-standing persecution of the Tutsi Banyamulenge—the #UKsolicitor responded in a way that left me deeply disturbed.
She cited five reasons why persecuted individuals should claim asylum and then added, “If the Banyamulenge are being persecuted by the DRC government, they can go to Rwanda and apply for asylum, instead of coming here and invading our country.”
What shocked me even more was that, in a room filled with officials and under the eyes of the public and media, no one challenged that statement—not even the UK Parliament members present.
My message during the session was clear. I may not have come with promises of mineral deals, as some DRC officials have, but the sincerity and urgency of my words should have been evident. I urged the UK to establish an independent fact-finding commission to investigate these atrocities on the ground—rather than relying on reports from the DRC government or diplomatic distortions. @GavinWilliamson @julienpalukucom @DavidLammy
It was a great honour for me to participate in a roundtable discussion at the #UKParliament, alongside members of the House of Commons, the House of Lords, NGOs, the diaspora, and officials from Kinshasa. The event was intended to address the historical context of the conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), its humanitarian consequences, international and regional responses, the role of the United Kingdom, and pathways to peace.
However, I was deeply disappointed that the discussion veered away from these critical topics. Instead, the focus was almost entirely on #Rwanda, sanctions, and strategies for attracting #investors to the DRC. There was little to no engagement with the core issues affecting communities on the ground.
When I was finally given the opportunity to speak — in a very limited timeframe — I attempted to provide a broader historical perspective. I highlighted the discrimination faced by the #Banyamulenge/#Tutsi community, tracing it from the colonial era to the present. I raised serious concerns about ongoing hate speech, the normalization of violence, and even acts of cannibalism — all supported by documented facts.
Unfortunately, my remarks were met with hostility. Rather than addressing the issues I raised, the discussion shifted aggressively toward questioning me personally. One particularly shocking example came from a Uk-based #solicitor who said, “If you #Banyamulenge feel persecuted, go and seek asylum in #Rwanda.”@US_SrAdvisorAF @FelixUdps @PaulKagame @kayikwambaT @onduhungirehe

They must not abstain, they need to vote all the MP’s need to realise it’s not Keir Starmer who keeps them in a job it’s their constituents and they need to work for the people who put them there. It would serve them well to remember that #UKMP #LabourParty
Allowing MPs to abstain on a vote for disability cuts does sweet fa with such a huge majority. Abstaining on a vote so important is cowardice. MPs are right to be worried about keeping their seats if they vote to harm disabled people. #WelfareNotWarfare
