Prof Rodgers mentioning some of the giants of #KidneyStones at #ESD24.
It’s great to see our mentor Prof Grases on the list. He pioneered the #phytate, discovered the #theobromine, found #synergistic effects between different compounds, and defined the #urinepH protective zone.
“#UrinepH has a cyrcadian rhythm, that it is altered in #KidneyStones patients. It is important to measure the pH regularly, just like brushing your teeth. The product @LitControl pH Meter from @Devicare is the best system to do it.” Dr. Straub.
Very proud of our new #Patent granted in the US related to our innovative electrochemical #sensor #technology for measuring and monitoring the #urinepH of #patients with #KidneyStones. Good job @Devicare team! 💪 🇺🇸 cc @LitControl
@nishanturo Better to use digital #pHmeters clinically validated like @LitControl pH Meter! 😉 You can also monitor the #urinepH cyrcadian rhythms of the patient, that are more important than the #averagepH of the 24hr to take clinical decisions and adjust the treatment regimen. @Devicare
@emiliani_e The method of measurement and also the storage conditions can increase the #urinepH above 9. #Time and #Temperature are key factors. See Cook et al, 2007: https://t.co/ebWWCIWOdO
Composition of calcium stones by @noorbuchholz during #WCE2019. Interestingly CaP (5%), CaOx-CaP (45%), and COD stones are formed in a high #urinepH. @LitControl can be a powerful tool both for screening and monitoring these stone former patients. #urosome
@oangerri presenting a work from @FPuigvert using @LitControl pH Meter in #cystinuric patients to demonstrate that is easier to use, easier to learn and has better patient satisfaction than the use of dipsticks to manage the #urinepH. #EULIS19 #UroSoMe
Dr Jordi Guimerà explains in #EULIS19 that “there is a high prevalence of dRTA in patients with CaP Stones and #urinepH above 6,0.” This is an interesting way to screening the dRTA with @LitControl pH Meter. @Devicare #UroSoMe
You can use feedback tools to improve compliance of your patients like self-monitoring of #urinepH with @LitControl pH Meter. #EULIS19 #urosome Dr. DJ Kok.
Do you want to turn your department into a successful Stone Clinic? -By Dr Kok:
1) Reduce the SFR after intervention
2) Perform urine and stone analysis
3) General advice: urine vol > 2L, reduce oxalate, normal calcium and change #urinepH
4) Stimulate compliance by coaching
“The #urinepH has to be measured very #fast after micturition with #electrochemistry because urine dipsticks are NOT reliable!” says Dr RJ Unwin. You can use @LitControl pH Meter to do it. #EULIS19 @Devicare
Amazing Spanish representation during the #EULIS19!! Here with my friend @Fede_SoriaG talking about the importance of #urinepH management in future #BiodegradableStents. Great opportunities of scientific collaborations with @Devicare and @LitControl.
@DrMainez: “to keep the #urinepH values inside the protective range (5,5-6,2) reduces more than 2-fold the probability to have a renal colic” #IAU2019 #UroSoMe @LitControl
#UrinepH can also contribute to the urine crystallization of an old and well-known antibiotic like Amoxicillin. @emiliani_e @oangerri @OTRAXER @endourologyccf @OJWiseman @bwturney @DrBenChew @thomaschi8 @MattBultitude @CarlosTorrecil6 @albertobudiaalb @DrMainez @JmLopezMartnz
Amoxicillin crystalluria. Bright field (left) and phase contrast (right). Under polarized light they are strongly polychromatic birefringent (no image obtained unfortunatelly). #urinalysis #urinesediment
