I had read the post about your grandfather embarked on the destroyer #USSMayrant. My paternal grandfather served in the #ItalianAirForce during the #WW2. After the armistice of September 8, 1943, he collaborated with the Allies.

Having coffee honoring the USS Mayrant, my grandfather's destroyer during WWII. He caught her in Jan '42 in Virginia for escort duty. His Executive Officer was FDR, Jr. FDR kept track of the Mayrant on his map in the White House. The Mighty Mayrant is not forgotten! #ussmayrant
