NO F35 JETS FOR TURKEY🚨
A 2019 promise still stands in 2026:
If Turkey, which bought and operates Russia’s S400 system ever gets F35 jets from the United States, I will keep my word to never criticize @RTErdogan again, it’s a promise.
Trump can say whatever he wants to make Erdogan feel good ahead of next week’s NATO summit in Ankara but knows very well that Congress will never allow Turkey to get the F35s.
The reasons it will never happen:
▪️CAATSA law is clear, no F35 while Turkey possesses the Russian S400
▪️The security risk is unacceptable, Russian systems that can track and compromise America’s most advanced stealth fighter.
▪️Right now, bipartisan members of Congress are actively moving to block any such deal.
My word is my bond but I’m surely not losing sleep over this one because it’s not going to happen.

Erdogan is not a “strong leader” Mr. President. He is an autocrat who remains in power (despite horrible economic stewardship and becoming the #WorstAllyEver) only because he jails opponents and journalists, makes religious minorities submit because they fear worse, and only pretends to run a democracy.
Obama liked Erdogan at the beginning too - and then he saw his true colors.
Even Ankara understands that hosting NATO’s summit while advancing illegal maritime claims against fellow NATO allies and EU member states is not the best look for the Alliance.
