This #WorldBreastfeedingWeek , we celebrate the power of breastfeeding for healthier lives.
Breastfeeding is crucial for infant and maternal health.
At @WFP, we're committed to supporting mothers across #Somalia with guidance and resources.
A mother who doesn’t breastfeed a child is denying their rights. In the Quran it is stated its the right of a child to be breastfed for two years. Let us breastfeed our children. Sheikh Usuli. #WBW2024#Somalia#BreastfeedingSupportForAll.
I was affected by, and responded to, "famine that kills" (de Waal) in Darfur 1983-85! And I was amongst the earliest aid workers who responded to 1998 Bhr AlGhazal famine. There is no famine yet in #Somalia - but if our response is late or underfunded, the risk is grave @SomaliPM
.@WFP is facing a critical funding gap in #Somalia amid the #droughtinSomalia crisis. We are sustaining & scaling up vital food & nutrition support to 2.5 million people - but without urgently needed funding of US$ 203 million, this flow of support could be cut from April.
Yet again another milestone in the Ports & Fisheries sector in #Galmudug State. I laud the leadership of the Ministry for the launch of #Hobyo Fishing Jetty today. This is a remarkable infrastructure project set to boost trade, revenue generation and improvement of livelihoods.
@AbdikadirDeck @HarunMaruf I am afraid #PresidentFarmajo will secure his seat again for another 4 years. That will be another opportunity for Somalia to prosper!
