@floatingwordist I don’t necessarily disagree but loosening this requirement on husbands demands an immediate restructuring of inheritance law, as this requirement more essentially functions alongside these laws than any reciprocal spousal rights which are more debatable.

This is also a point we don't discuss often in academia. Global North researchers can access any country in the Global South for their research but the opposite is almost impossible. Even attending a conference is difficult. We don't question this asymmetry enough.
