I had a great time attending a Kaken seminar held at Komaba TokyoUni @UTokyo_News_en. Prof. Emma Clery @austeneconomics, an invited lecturer, discussed Mary #Wollstonecraft, the first British feminist, regarding how her strategic use of the term #sensibility changed with time.

I had a blissful time visiting @hartleyspecialc to view their newly acquired treasures: 1st edn of #Emma, #NA/#Persuasion. They're in remarkably fine condition; beautifully marbled covers & leather bindings. I felt like they were gifts to #JaneAusten herself. Happy birthday Jane!

Fascinating talk by Prof Kathryn Sutherland on Austen's fictional manuscripts at #JaneAusten Study Day @IES_London! By comparing Austen's manuscripts with her contemporaries' including Boswell, Byron, Godwin, Scott, and Burney, Sutherland affirms Austen's confidence as a writer.

Whether it rains or not, visiting @ChawtonHouse is always nice, especially when it comes to listening to Prof Jocelyn Harris's talk. Her discussion on #Austen's relation to Fanny Burney detailed both authors' historical contexts regarding the East Indian Company. So entertaining!
