Spending deep, quality time with family these days. Floating in mythical time. Listening to stories of who my ancestors were, the thousands who attended my grandfather's funeral...the grief I try to dissolve with a love that does not fully know their heartache
Hazaras were killed in Kunduz last week. Shias are killed in Kandahar today. Where is the 'peace' that Taliban rule was supposed to bring to the country?
I just returned from Rikers Island where a group of elected officials exercised our legal right to inspect correctional facilities. What I witnessed was a humanitarian crisis. A horror house of abuse and neglect. I'll share more soon but for now my message is simple: decarcerate.
@kabuli07 I'm always curious as to who is the photographer and how the image is dispersed. So it really could go any direction. The image as it stands itself doesn't feel anti-Taliban, because the impact of the visual outweighs any captions. That's just me thoooo
"The Poetics of Mass Construction" is my personal reveal and rescript of 9/11. There's so much left unsaid about what I personally experienced over this past 20 years, but hope this generative take on the rhetoric of warfare is a good start for now~

Just woke up from a dream that all my Afghan friends near and far were on a pilgrimage by foot and I was running around taking large format and tintype photos of them. There were stopping points for chai and friendly debates. The setting felt old but the vibes were futuristic.
I have a deadline tomorrow but I can’t be bothered to build on any of the half baked ideas of what I wrote before August 15th. Rarely anything feels worth spending time on these days other than fortifying my sanity and being with family
