Hands up Scottish teachers about to return to work who have started to show their horns and are manically cleaning/organising/panicking ahead of D-day.... #justmethen#edutwitter
This was an emotive read after several days of challenge in the classroom. And, reading the range of comments beneath was comforting, irritating and deflating all at once. ๐ฎโ๐จ
@MrScottGeog I've been stunned in recent weeks on a national and local level at the vitriol directed toward schools and teachers from the public. If only they could see the painstaking care and attention we put into being teachers. It's actually soul destroying.
@EISUnion I'm seeing diminishing support for our strike action on social media from parents who are now questioning the impact of missed school days. If a resolution isn't forthcoming this action risks really damaging the teaching profession's reputation and creating a scapegoat situation.
@RogersHistory I support the strike action and I'm taking part in it, but it's only the tip of the iceberg and a big shake up is required before the whole workforce burns out and implodes. Where would young people be then?? (2/2)
@RogersHistory I'm a teacher in my 3rd year of my job and I'm honestly more concerned about the number of teacher vacancies, the dearth of suitable budgets for schools, and the state of young people's behaviour and the policies we have (or don't have) to handle them. (1/2)
Sparing a thought for the teachers out there who also happen to be parents of young children - even when you get home you need to remain teacher level patient for AT LEAST another 3 hours ๐ซฃ๐คฏ #edutwitter#teacherparents
Thinking out loud - are other teachers concerned that even if the 10% pay rise is achieved, teachers will still face all the same workload pressures & barriers outside of pay? In other words, better pay isn't going to 'fix' the bigger picture which I feel is equally important ๐คฏ

I enjoyed reading this perspective on teachers being more open and approachable to their pupils than was traditionally the case. We are shaping their views on themselves and where they fit in the world, so they deserve an appropriate level of transparency https://t.co/ISQNAsPns8
