Signs you might be trying to get your frontier AI lab nationalized:
You compare it to nukes… threaten half of white-collar jobs… warn recursive self-improvement could end humanity… then race ahead anyway.

@Austen Strongest counterpoint: CA passed their own net neutrality rules. Doesn't make sense to make one network for 40 million Americans and one network for everyone else.
@nic_carter Something that requires constant human oversight, correction, and feedback is not AGI. It's an extremely useful tool that will unlock massive amounts of productivity. But it's not AGI.
@bscholl I believe very strongly that this will get resolved. But things generally need to get undeniably bad in democracies before serious action is taken. The three stages:

This is not a thing. That's not how data centers work. That's not how physics works. I'd love to see someone try to explain to me just how a closed loop system poisoned a water supply.
If that addict on your street were your own son, what would you do? That is the defining question that guides my 5 step plan to fix the homelessness problem in LA. We *must* end this evil racket of corrupt politicians and NGOs who profit off the misery of these poor souls. They launder money and feed them more drugs, so they can keep their customers locked in this hell on our streets. We have a moral obligation from God to help them and make our city safe and clean for everyone. Karen Bass and Nithya Raman have forsaken this city. Time for real leadership. Time for real compassion.
