I should clarify that I'm just personally going in and doing a bunch of color grading myself. It's very close to being done and I want it to be perfect. I don't want people to get the wrong idea that it's still super unfinished.
People online and in the industry cry all the time about empathising with and supporting independent filmmakers but when a below the line crew member rightly complains about the low pay, having health scares and being strained doing multiple roles at once for an indie film that is a smash hit, suddenly that empathy from everyone is no longer there, instead calling her ungrateful and entitled that has ruined her career for speaking up.
It’s like you don’t actually care about these artists wanting to make it in the industry. You just pretend you do and get mad when they won’t accept bad standards cos it’s better to be miserable than push for change.
@Zacwithanh2018@WrestlerHauser I worked for four years in McDonald’s, you moron.
They train the staff to NOT perform duties like resolving conflict, training newer hires, counting cash and stock at close - that’s all left to the managers. Extra duties, extra work, extra pay. Fair wages principle.
@HaydenHewitt@JoblessVince@joerussotweets “That’s how it is” is an inane line from inane people who have no ambition to improve anything.
I make it sound like that because that’s exactly what it is. Unpaid overtime.
In the fair wages principle, you compensate your employees for any additional duties they take on.
@Zacwithanh2018@WrestlerHauser A Starbucks worker actually gets paid for their responsibilities alone. Starbucks managers get paid more for more work, more duties.
She was not paid at all for the extra work & responsibilities not part of being an Art Director. That’s unpaid labour.
You’re not smart, Zach.
@mothmaryy Crazy concept but I think whatever the budget, all equal work deserves all equal pay. “That’s just how it works” for uncompensated labour is insane and disgraceful to say
@DannyManus Danny, did you even read her post? Her grievance was to do with the gruelling, extra work that wasn't meant to be any part of her responsibility as Art Director. Extra work that left her and others out of pocket, and never compensated for.
Christ, man. READ. Don't go "oh Gen Z".
@JordanDrake How on earth is this "well said", Jordan? Luke completely ignored the point she made regarding the gruelling work that was nowhere within her remit as Art Director that she had to take on, and was never compensated for.
Being compensated only for her work as AD is unacceptable.
