Myth 2 that we hear often is that significant pressure needs to be applied for strangulation to be harmful.

This is not correct.

An average male handshake is 80 to 100 PSI and it takes only on 4 PSI to block main veins on a neck.

Just because a victim/ survivor has no marks does not mean they haven't been strangled.
