Today’s guest in my HBS class - @TheValuesVC. Talking SaaS and unit economics. Amazing to be able to host him IRL with 180 students across two sections. Taking nothing for granted nowadays. #hbsltv
So happy for @paris_wallace, @gnebesar, and the @OviaHealth team. A tremendous accomplishment to build a high impact business that did well while doing good - https://t.co/FMWFuHeiPl #hbsltv@HBSAlumni
A few reflections after re-reading Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, particularly regarding the risk of blindly applying the experimental method to pre product-market fit startups - https://t.co/cm5exw4akd #hbsltv
Kicking off #hbsltv from Sydney this morning.
Highlight for me was a reminder for startups to focus on what they can control:
“All you can do is control your process, you can’t control your outcomes.”
My HBS class focusing on pre product-market fit startups, Launching Tech Ventures, launches next week. The syllabus is publicly available at

With the IPO this week, I dove into One Medical's S-1, including:
-Is its subscription biz worth the SaaS multiple valuation?
-Do the unit economics show room for company growth? (feat. #hbsltv pearls)
-Will it take on incumbent health system monopolies?

I love S-1 tear downs. This post on Casper's IPO filing by the @venturetwins is well done. Conclusion: weak unit economics (esp LTV/CAC) and no clear tech platform / leverage, despite great growth and brand. #hbsltv
Had a chance to listen to the new @m2jr podcast this snowy morning and, in particular, his interview w/@arachleff on product-market fit. HIGHLY recommend! The first 10 minutes, in particular, synthesize a lot of great lessons. https://t.co/HLnHOCzlTi #hbsltv@HBSAlumni
#hbsltv was a journey into startup life from a tech perspective. Excited to learn about sales, working with engineers and running hypothesis-driven experiments
Buffett: "Do something that you would do even if they didn’t pay you."
This summarizes an essential take away from #HBSLTV and @bussgang final class advice - follow your passion. Thanks for sharing the Oracle of Omaha's wisdom with the wider world.
Follow your passion. Be authentic. Trust your gut at first and then, when it’s time, incorporate data in your decision making. A good recipe to achieve great things in life!
Great final advice! Thank you for a great class @jeffbussgang

Look around you... the best startup ideas come from problems you have/ are facing, and you are uniquely positioned to find the right solutions. #Chief#Codacedemy#ZappRx#ManyMoreExample#HBSLTV
Simple, but powerful lesson from today's class. To add value in early stage start ups, simply ask "what do you need done?" It's not about defined roles, it's about speaking the founders language.
