In honor of #BHM I’d like to share the story of my favorite Black founder, Henry Robinson. He co-founded Genesys Software in 1985 with two fellow Black software engineers he met while at Westinghouse

He’s the reason I love & respect entrepreneurs

This is my father’s story 👨🏽‍💻✊🏽

October is turning out to be @render's biggest month by far, so it's great to see we were already one of the fastest-growing startups this fall. No better time to join Render!

How disposable software becomes the norm

(originally posted at https://t.co/Mjr6PUoO6J

Ask ChatGPT to analyze a spreadsheet, and it might write and run a Python script to find the answer. Once you have the answer, you may never need that script again. That is just-in-time, disposable software, and I expect most software run in the cloud will soon look like it.

Today, we build applications around needs we can anticipate. We invest in code review, testing, and deployment pipelines because we expect people to keep using what we ship. When writing a program costs almost nothing and takes seconds, building one to answer a single question starts to make sense.

Source control matters less for programs nobody will revise. We’ll need verification that works as code is generated and executed, without a human reading every line. Permissions and spending limits have to hold even when the program was written moments before it ran, and we’ll still need a record of what it did.

Agents will also take over the infrastructure decisions engineers now make in tools like Terraform. One task needs a few seconds of compute; the next needs a powerful machine for days. The agent will acquire those resources through cloud APIs, within the task’s budget and security constraints, and release them when it’s done. This is application-defined compute: the software chooses its infrastructure as it does the work.

This will make it practical to solve problems that never justified a full software project. A task can have its own software, even if nobody ever needs to do it again.

We have raised a $550M Series E at an $8.8B valuation, led by Atreides.

Every major existing investor is back in, and we’re welcoming Baron Capital, Capital Group, Fidelity, Glade Brook and J.P. Morgan. We picked investors who think in decades. Several of them work with law firms and legal teams every day, so they can see where the work is heading.

Lawyers are moving from AI assistants to agents that do multi-step work. The money goes there. We’re growing our teams across North America, Europe, Latin America and Asia-Pacific, and going deeper on the Legora aOS.

Thank you to the 1,000+ people at Legora, and to the 140,000 legal professionals who use what we build.

I say this a lot because I believe it: it’s the best time in history to be a lawyer. We're thankful to be a part of it.

I spend countless hours talking to @spdholakia each week from that very room on Zoom (last week in person for 3 days 😊) Watching he & my guy @HarryStebbings spar for this long on all things AI was fun bc I get to see what its like for someone else to do it! s/o @twentyminutevc

“Intelligence is a bigger market than oil.”

@spdholakia on @20VC with @HarryStebbings — 31 years in software, and he’s felt this kind of magic only a handful of times. Every prior time, a trillion-dollar supercycle followed.

His most contested claim: in AI, capital is the moat.

@doubleAI builds AI that out-reasons human experts in one domain at a time.

And unlike every AI coding tool, which works for the programmer, their "Maxwell" is the first one that works for the machine. 🧵

I asked our agent for SaaStr AI Connect live with @HarryStebbings + @rodriscoll today if we wanted to move hosting ... where should we go?

It picked Render over Railway and Vercel.  "My pick".

Honestly I had never heard of it.  Maybe I should have, but I never had.

Now we'll test it -- first.

Today were launching Skills.

Ask a lawyer why they rewrote an AI draft and you'll hear the same thing: It's not wrong. It's just not how we do it here.

That's fair feedback. Every team and professional has their own way of working. How a review is structured. Which positions you'll give up, and in what order. How an email to a client should sound. Until now, the Agent didn't know any of that.

A Skill teaches the @WeareLegora Agent how your team wants something done. You write it in plain language, the way you'd brief a new team member on their first day. After that, the Agent applies it whenever the work calls for it, dynamically. No more time wasted looking for the right workflow.

Every firm and in-house team will leverage AI. The ones that pull ahead will be the ones whose AI works to their standards and can be used immediately. Legora's Skill system scales with versioning, permissions and the auditability required for the scale of the largest legal organizations globally.

We're also launching the Skills Library with 250+ Skills built and tested by our legal engineers from leading law firms and organizations all over the world. They cover commercial contracts, privacy, M&A, litigation, employment, bank and finance, IP and more.

Live today for every Legora customer: https://t.co/etqR4Kt9Yu

[Max Junestrand @MaxJunestrand]

I was in the Bloomberg studio in London this morning.

Q3 was the most hectic quarter in @WeareLegora's history. We added 800 new customers in three months and now work with more than 2,300 across 80+ countries. We also added more ARR this quarter than our total ARR at the end of 2025.

I was asked the jobs question, and my answer hasn't changed: our customers are hiring more lawyers.

Legal is supply constrained. If you could review every contract, you would. If you could run full diligence on every asset before it goes to investment committee, you would. Better tools mean more of that work gets done, and a lawyer still owns the judgment.

We talked about junior lawyers wondering whether they need to learn to code. With large language models, the programming language is English. I'm not especially good with words. Lawyers are, and they turn out to be some of the best drivers of our product.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I think this is the best time in history to be a lawyer.

Thanks @TomMackenzieTV for having me on The Opening Trade. Full interview below.

[Doppel @DoppelHQ]

We’re excited to share that Doppel has been named the Official Social Engineering Defense Partner of the @49ers 🏈

This partnership hits close to home. Doppel was founded in the Bay Area. It’s where we built our first product, hired our first engineers, and spent years learning what it takes to defend something worth protecting.

At Doppel, we protect organizations from social engineering. These attacks don’t break through defenses head-on. They work by looking convincing enough to earn trust. Stopping them means anticipating the threat, covering the gaps, and acting before it lands.

The 49ers have defended the Bay on the field for eighty years. Doppel was built here to defend the brands, identities, and people who call it home.

Agent workloads are unpredictable by definition. Is the next request 3 tasks or 400?

Provisioning compute assumes you know the answer.

Our answer is Application-Defined Compute. Render CEO @anuraggoel explains it tomorrow at @WeAreDevs. 11 AM, Stage 1.

Find us at booth #734 after.

[Max Junestrand @MaxJunestrand]

Getting from $1M to $100M in ARR took us 18 months. The second hundred took less than six. Last week @WeAreLegora passed $200M.

130,000 lawyers now use Legora on a monthly basis, across 2,100 firms and legal teams in more than 80 countries.

Two things from this year I would not have predicted:

The first is how fast the US moved. 18 months ago we had no office in North America. Today over half of the AmLaw 50 work with us, out of our offices in New York, Denver, Chicago, Houston, San Francisco and Toronto. The US is our largest market by revenue.

The second is where the demand is coming from. More than 40% of our new customers are now in-house legal teams, including Air Canada, Salesforce and Palo Alto Networks.

Two thank-yous, before we get back to work. To our customers, who backed a small company from Stockholm with a lot to prove, and who still tell us plainly when we get something wrong. And to the team, engineers and lawyers sitting next to each other, who turn that into something better, faster than any group I have worked with.
