When I was an athlete, Coach Tom Tellez told me I had the wrong concept. I thought faster meant I had to try harder. It doesn't.
Sometimes to go faster, you've got to relax, put yourself in the right positions, and let your body do its thing instead of trying to force it.
Watch non-track athletes sprint and they are straining & 'digging' to run fast.
Watch good sprinters and they are relaxed.
The former has the idea that they need to work harder to run fast. The latter understands they need to do the right kind of work & work with their body.
"..I have 3 students I’ve had in class who've played in the NFL. And I have 7 who’ve been clerks on the Supreme Court. Half the time those 10 kids took the same classes as each other. And a lot of them are friends with each other.."

That's. Hillsdale.

💡what we fail to recognize is that we may be living our “prime” now. As athletes, the next season or even the next play is not guaranteed. Enjoy the process, the training, the time with teammates.
Choose the pain of discipline over the pain of regret.🔥

Athletes and coaches, if you want to reach your goals this summer it starts with who you surround yourself with. Do they lift you higher or do they drown you? Do they work hard or hardly work? Are they positive or negative?
This Memorial Day, the Hillsdale College athletic department asks you to join us in remembering and honoring all those who've laid down their lives to protect the freedoms we hold dear. Without their service, we wouldn't be able to live the lives we live today. Thank you.
Move from Dependence to Independence
Coaching is about making your own job obsolete. Good coaches foster independence. We should be working towards having our athlete be self-sufficient, with our role as simply course correcting the ship as it goes.
Self-talk is what you say to yourself. To be a champion, you must speak to yourself like one, using productive phrases before, during, and after a performance. The most important words you’ll ever hear are those you say to yourself.

SUCCESS never happens by accident. It is an result of:
-Being 100% clear of WHAT you want
-Knowing WHY you want it
-Putting a PLAN in place
-Working relentlessly to achieve it
