the myth that poor people just need to " work harder" is absolutely nonsense. most poor people work longer hours doing harder jobs for lower pay. this system doesn't reward labor; it exploits it.
Great piece of work from Lidl and a great perspective to have - planetary and human health do go hand in hand, many people overlook this. What’s bad for us is also bad for the planet - like eating meat and dairy for example, and foods full of fat, salt and sugar (aka processed foods).
Animal agriculture uses up 75% of global farmland, to grow plants to feed animals to feed people in a system of incredible diminishing returns (we get far less protein out than we put in). And we make ourselves sick in the process - while causing the global wildlife crisis (they have nowhere to live). 95% of the body weight of all animals on the planet now are farmed animals. Just 5% are wild. One final figure, if we stopped eating animals in Britain we could either feed 16m more people with the same land or we could give half our entire land area back to nature…..that’s how bad our current system is. More supermarkets should engage in this issue - but don't say every Lidl helps….
