The Lord's warning through Samuel was crystal clear: If the people chose to have a king, it would come at a high cost.

The king would forcefully draft their sons to work in his fields and fight his wars for selfish gains.

Their daughters would be reduced to menial laborers in his kitchens, serving his parties.

Moreover, he would relentlessly tax everything they owned to support himself and his cronies.

The Lord made it abundantly clear that if the people persisted in their desire for an earthly king instead of Him, He would not hear them in times of oppression and misery.

And people will still bring up muh roads in 2024.
