For long-tailed weasels, turning white for the winter is a matter of survival. These highly resourceful and downright adorable creatures are fearless hunters who attack animals far larger than themselves, like squirrels and rabbits.

The bright #fullmoon of Sunday 1st February is known as the #SnowMoon. It was named thus by Native Americans as snow was heaviest at this time. They also called it Storm Moon & Hunger Moon as food was scarce & hunting hard.

Every summer, adorable pikas gather mouthfuls of wildflowers and grasses to build giant haystacks for winter. They lay the vegetation on rocks to dry in the sun, then store it in their dens for food through the cold months. 💐

@avidseries I can attest that where I live we depend on NPR a lot. There's not enough people to justify costs of commercial radio, but with electrical outages we still need news and weather.
