We have really done the christian community a disservice by limiting worship to music, prayer to cloistered "rooms and halls" and pushing the value of "passion" over genuine connection to God.

Not only do we mistakenly foster an environment where high energy music and public praying is valued inordinately, we also push people OUT of daily living in communion and the experience of worship as a daily attitude, or a conversation where the value and Nature of God is present and discussed.

The rituals that modern (Westernized) Christianity espouse as "giving God glory" are just as much a wineskin as any ritual that has started at any point in Christian history. Their value is not in the sophistication or energy of the wineskin, but rather in whether or not they actually contain wine (God's Presence)

In pushing "passion" as an indicator of piety, we set young believers up to expect that high energy and emotion is the same thing as God's Presence, and that feeling anything else is somehow sinful and to be avoided.

Prayer is 2 way communicative communion with God, and a process to be engaged as we go about our every day lives.

Worship (Worthship) is the consideration and recognition of God's endless worth and again, a process, or posture to be engaged in as we go about our every day lives.

And passion? Passion is one of a range of human experiences, all of which come from God and can be returned to Him. Bring Him your grief, your fear, your passivity, and bring Him your struggles and weaknesses. Also bring Him your passion when that is what He serves up.

Learn to discern the difference between living "for" God and living "from" God. The Spirit may produce an emotional response, but emotions do not necessarily produce the Spirit.
