Finally got something on my work board! Students made timelines of our major Civil War vocabulary. We modeled together an example and they used that exemplar to do this amazing work! We’re cruising through some history standards! #yaygeorgiastudies
When we label people or communities with certain terms it narrows perceptions, reduces people to problems, and perpetuates systemic oppression.
The first step in changing our mindset is to change our language. The words we use form the way we think.
Three kinds of people are actively trying to dismantle and defund public schools:
1. Those who profit off of privatizing education.
2. Those who are opposed to independent thought, truthful history, and an inclusive education.
3. Those believing the lies of 1 and 2.
To address the teacher shortage issue, we must address the teacher respect issue in our country. We must stop normalizing providing teachers with inadequate resources to be successful.
We shouldn’t punish children for being children. If they sit in desks too long, don’t be surprised if they get fidgety/ talkative. Yes, there’s a time & place for quiet, but we need more time & places for them to play, move, socialize & be children That's how they naturally learn

Today students wrote in small groups to analyze characters and directly answering one of our big literary standards! I loved hearing their conversations as they wrote.
Today we got to learn about traditional Korean games and some fun phrases in Korean. Tomorrow we are going to make one of the games on our own and play! What a fun day!
An important reminder for the weeks between Thanksgiving & Winter breaks: Avoid the urge to sprint. Do not wait to rest again until you're running on fumes. Create space for routine breaks in order to keep from having a completely empty tank.
