Hey guys. My account was hacked Sunday afternoon by a scam that is known to target journalists, and I just successfully regained control of it with the help of X support.

The hacker did a number on me and changed my handle and entire account, which I use for work, into an Elon Musk commentary account (I kid you not). Since my account’s still under review, I am unable to change my handle back to what it was before for a little while so I’ll just have roll with “Elon Commentary.” Guess beggars can’t be choosers!

To confirm, NOTHING this account posted, replied or liked, no accounts it followed — and no DMs that were sent — between Sunday at 1:30 PM ET and now came from me.

During this period, many of my friends and colleagues received messages asking to vote for me for a podcast. These, I repeat, did NOT come from me. If you’ve received these messages from me or anyone else, DO NOT CLICK the link under any circumstances. You can definitely say I learned my lesson.

Anyway, glad to be back in the marketplace of ideas!
