@Terence_Mooney I do think that I am easily persuaded by certain types of commercials that relate to me. Fast food and sports apparel commercials definitely do their job on me. #UWJ201 #304
@MasonHolcombe I think that advertising and public relations are both used for their own reasons. They are both effective and have different functions that they perform. #UWJ201 #304
@maggie_mantel This makes me feel like I am being watched all the time, which is a feeling I do not want to have. I feel that I deserve privacy when using apps such as Facebook. #UWJ201 #304
@letscher2002 Print news is decreasing and online news is increasing because of the development of technology right now in our day and age. Online news is just faster and more convenient to fit the needs of today’s world. #UWJ201 #304
@ella_goro I think the News Avoider group would most likely fall for fake news as they have a bigger knowledge gap on the issue at hand than any other group. This would most likely make them believe whatever they see or hear first. #UWJ201 #304
@MadisonHaering Honestly, I do not think the public being aware of bias and negativity will result in a change in the media. I think that media bias is inevitable. #UWJ201 #304
In today’s lecture, we talked about how most people think that the media based on politics is biased. Do you think that the topic of politically biased media will ever be solved? #UWJ201 #304
@AbbyWalsh02 Hey Abby, I do think that there is a difference across generations. Since our generation grew up in the internet and social media era, I feel that it is harder for us to talk face to face than it was when there was no internet and social media. #UWJ201 #304
@chucksphillips Hey Charlie, I think that people are afraid of having an isolated opinion and are scared that they are not in the majority of opinions. I think that the level of self-confidence a person has plays a significant role. #UWJ201 #304
@whomstisnat Journalists can encourage their audience to perceive itself as unified by giving equal information from both sides of the story. This way, the reader can fairly make up their own mind and form their own opinion. #UWJ201 #304
@katerouman Productivity can only come from these conversations between these two sides if both sides actually listen to each other’s ideas. This way, we can come up with a solution that satisfies both parties. #UWJ201 #304
In class today we talked about knowledge gaps and how it’s a major roadblock in news media. What do you think is a good way to get rid of knowledge gaps in news media? #UWJ201 #304
@LibbyLambdin I do think algorithms on apps like Tik Tok further the gatekeeping process. Whenever I scroll on my “For You” page on Tik Tok, I usually see sports videos and cool real estate videos as that is what I am interested in. #UWJ201 #304
@ColbyBellaman Overall, I think that social media apps should filter out or delete the fake news as soon as something gets posted. However, I also think that it is our job to figure out what’s fake and what’s not by doing outside research. #UWJ201 #304
@letscher2002 I think that art does count as mass communication. The point of art is that the message is transmitted to a large number of viewers. #UWJ201 #304
@enelyuw I 100% agree. There should definitely be censorship of information that is not true or inappropriate. Having the option to report this information is a positive aspect of social media. #UWJ201 #304
