@GummellaRishi I think it will be harder for younger generations to know if the news they are getting on social media is true which will definitely impact them and their perception. #UWJ201 #309
@beccaspitalnik I think the way product are advertised and sold to us would be very different because there platforms wouldn’t have information on us that lead them to show us certain ads. #UWJ201 #309
I thought Facebook creating “fake engagement” to effect the algorithm and shape public perception in Julia Carrie Wong’s article was very interesting. I didn’t know this was possible for social media companies to do and don’t think it is right. What do you think? #UWJ201 #309
@Evpall7 I think social media can be somewhat of a good indicator of public opinion. While there is a gap of certain demographics, I still think it shows enough diverse opinions to be considered a good indicator, but it's not perfect. #UWJ201 #309
I think identity journalism makes the news more polarized because our identities are so hard to change. Do you agree? Do you have any strong identities? Do you think it would be possible to change those identities? #UWJ201 #309
@ScolmanSophia I saw this in all three of my interviews too. No matter what party they were apart of or their age they all thought the news didn’t effect them but strongly effected everyone else. #UWJ201 #309
@JakeSteeves9 I agree that this serves as more of a distraction from the power social media platforms have. If they are able to take the president off their sites what else are they able to do? #UWJ201 #309
After reading the articles on deplatforming I was wondering if the consequences would out way the benefits. While it’s a good thing that extremists are off these sites, it could cause even more people to lash out against deplatforming. What do you think? #UWJ201 #309
@KarleaSchuelke I do think that satirical news sites should have to explicitly state that their news is made up because even though it may seem obvious to some of us, some people believe everything they read. I think saying this is false news is an easy way to avoid any problems. #UWJ201 #309
@maggie_mantel I think interpretation is the most important because without it the news is just facts. Interpretation tells the audience what the news means beyond just what happened. #UWJ201 #309
Do you think it’s the reporter’s job to make sure a story in 100% accurate or the reader’s job to fact check the story? Or a little bit of both? #UWJ201 #309
@RonnieSuarez11 I am definitely more nervous to talk about politics with people who's political beliefs I don't already know because I don't want to be ostracized for my opinion. I see this in my classes or when I am getting to know people. #UWJ201 #309
@MadisonHaering I agree with you I definitely am more nervous to answer a question in class because I am scared others will disagree or that I am wrong. However, online I wasn't as concerned about this. #UWJ201 #309
I believe that women are more likely to admit to not knowing something than men because I feel comfortable saying idk to a question. But my dad never admits to not knowing something even if he ends up sounding dumb. What about you? #UWJ201 #309
@EllieOverkamp When I heard this I thought the same thing. I often think about how social media effects others but I don’t think about how it is effecting myself. #UWJ201 #309
@LibbyLambdin I agree that this can make people think more negatively about an issue. But I also think this can help spread the word and start a conversation depending on the topic and how they go about it. #UWJ201 #309
I have definitely been effected by presumed media influence. I see things on social media and think this is going to affect others negatively, but it is also effecting me even though I don’t see it at first. Do you think this has happened to you? #UWJ201 #309
@r_buckner12 I agree that this is very interesting. I think another good example is that some stories on the BLM movement use words like protest while others use words like riot to shift people’s view. #UWJ201 #309
