Penn State Lineup Reality Check
(Most Likely 2027 NCAA Placements)
This is still a national-title favorite on paper.
Lilledahl, Duke, Mesenbrink, Haines, and Barr give them serious championship equity.
Ono, Blaze, and Welsh are the biggest swing factors. Team Score Projection

How many titles do you see this group winning next March @dbeshada1 ?

Penn State is still the dual meet favorite, but Virginia Tech is more dangerous than most people think. Once you factor in Eddie Ventresca, Bo Bassett, Caleb Henson, and Sonny Sasso, this matchup gets interesting fast. I still lean PSU because of the depth, proven All-American firepower, and bigger bonus-point upside… but VT has enough top-end pieces to make it uncomfortable.
BH Sports projection: PSU 24 – VT 12
The path for the Hokies is clear: win the star matchups and keep Penn State from racking up bonus points. Do that and this dual turns into a real fight. Do you think Virginia Tech has enough top-end firepower to seriously threaten Penn State right now, or is PSU still just too complete?

@JustinJBasch Big addition for Oklahoma State.
Having both Doucet and Ross at heavyweight gives them depth and flexibility most teams would kill for at 285. That’s a serious problem for opponents. This is one of the few Spots that OSU has better depth than PSU.
@funnybone1911@FloWrestling Haha, he’s still one of the safest bets on the board when he’s healthy and dialed in.
Not saying he’s a lock, just hard to leave him out of the top tier.
@just_keep_read@AdamSchefter Seattle’s had strong personalities before and survived. If Arnold’s talent shows up on the field and the off-field noise stays secondary, it can work. Still feels like a classic high-upside, high-variance swing though.
@USAWrestling Solid team, Bassett and James already have strong freestyle international experience. The more interesting part will be how the guys with less international freestyle background (especially Robideau and Seidel) adjust to the style in Bratislava.
@JiuJitsufien28@ufc@iangarryMMA@paramountplus Personally I still have GSP vs Fitch at the top for overall technical skill. You could drop those two into today’s game and they’d still look right at home.
@danawhite@paramountplus Main event is going to be interesting. Garry’s got the mouth and the confidence, but keeping Islam off him for even 5 minutes is a tall order. Should be a Great card!
@JiuJitsufien28@ufc@iangarryMMA@paramountplus I mixed it up with the Volkanovski fight. Oliveira was the 2nd round finish. Appreciate the catch, my intention was to compare to Oliveira fight to this one for the finish.
@TheCradleZone Solid early look. Sinclair at the top makes sense with the returning production. Curious how much the room changes if some of these guys move around, @thecradlezone slight error on the school for #2 but it happens!
@dbeshada1@BCRPoppy Agree. Real growth comes from youth participation and retention, not one big dual. A PSU vs. OSU dual would be great for the fans and the product, but it’s not some magic solution that suddenly makes the sport mainstream.
Fair point.
He’s finished most of his recent fights. The Oliveira one was the main time it went the distance and turned into a long wrestling match. Still think Garry’s best chance is keeping it standing as long as possible. If i had a prediction it would be Islam by submission in round 2.
@boselaphu@JustinJBasch@MatScouts1 Fair take.
There’s still a real question at heavyweight with the Mirasola brothers. I have Cole edged for now, but it’s one of the more unsettled spots in the lineup.
