AN UNSAFE COMMERCIAL VEHICLE STOPPED TWICE IN ONE DAY

OPP officers have laid 26 charges after an unsafe commercial motor vehicle (CMV) was stopped twice on Highway 11.

On March 3, 2026, at 5:00 a.m., #TemagamiOPP responded to debris in the live lanes caused by a commercial vehicle. A CVSA Level 1 inspection revealed serious safety defects, including a suspended driver’s licence, improper trailer plate, and nonfunctioning brakes. The vehicle and driver were placed out of service.

Later that day, #TemiskamingOPP located the same vehicle at 3:00 p.m., operating with a handwritten plate and unresolved defects. Charges include insecure load, unsafe vehicle operation, improper brakes, careless driving, and permit violations, laid against the second driver and the Alberta-based company.

The OPP reminds all commercial drivers and companies: maintain vehicles in safe condition and comply with regulations to keep Ontario highways safe. ^mt

Retired circus elephant seen mourning and trying to comfort her partner of over 25 years after she had collapsed and passed away.

Jenny and Magda were performing partners in Russia for over 25 years.

When Jenny passed away this week, Magda refused to let veterinarians near her for several hours as she hugged the elephant.

"In the first minutes after the tragedy, she lightly pushed her friend and tried to lift her, and then began to hug her," news outlet Baza reported.

"Magda said goodbye to Jenny for several hours and did not allow veterinarians near her."
