@KyleJamesHoward You’re not wrong. Growing up in FL we only discussed it at home, not in community. I was lucky my folks, both teachers, encouraged dialogue. Now in Austin I talk it over with friends often. One (not white) even creates a spreadsheet for every election to share how we’re voting.
Heartfelt and transparent thread by my dear friend about our old church closing. So proud to know and love you @AlliByrd9. I witnessed everything she spoke on (and then some) as a member for a decade, choosing to leave in January of 2020. I stand firmly with you, as always.
Last week, @austincitylife (@Acts29) announced it would be closing in December, and I can't say I'm surprised. My intent is not to "kick ‘em while they're down" but the public over-spiritualization of this closure is one thing that compels me to speak now.
@acltv@TheOtherLeslie@emilyjbolf Any word on how nuts the space available line is looking? Considering braving the heat and coming down after work with a book in hopes of scoring a single ticket. 😂
@AlliByrd9 @CristalMPorter @JeffNotOvercome @drmichellereyes @hopeccatx Here’s a third for City Life. @CristalMPorter we met at a friend’s dinner party as you were coming and I was going from the church (after a decade of membership). I’m now sorry I didn’t take the opportunity to give you a heads up about what y’all were walking into. I’m so sorry.

@GregCasar@AustinWater Honestly, you’re my only reliable source of information right now, so THANK YOU. I’m in 78758. Power came on from midnight to 7:30am (after 48 hours out). Then power came back an hour ago just as my water was cut off.
We're asking @AustinWater to fix and help address the water outages happening in parts of 78752/53/58. We need to help ASAP. *also please note: to preserve water pressure for everyone, be mindful of your total water consumption right now*
The big takeaway from @austinenergy's press conference is that, under state orders, the utility has turned off every non-essential circuit it can. That means the blackouts can't "roll" from one area to another. All areas not connected to critical infrastructure are down. (1/5)
Austin: these are *not* what I would call "rolling blackouts." They aren't rolling.
This is a massive outage being required by the statewide authorities, given that power statewide is down. Details in the thread below. We must redouble our efforts in this emergency.
Please don’t act like everyone loved my father. He was assassinated. A 1967 poll reflected that he was one of the most hated men in America. Most hated. Many who quote him now and evoke him to deter justice today would likely hate, and may already hate, the authentic King. #MLK
“As the American public today reckons with enduring racism, it costs very little to be notionally against injustice in the abstract. The audacity of King and the civil rights movement is not lauded. It remains terrifying to the status quo.” -@esaumccaulley https://t.co/MwtwCo6Elm
The Pentagon has denied the request to deploy the National Guard to the Capitol to deal with the coup/riot that Trump incited.
But this was the scene for BLM protests this summer.
@RoxanneWilson That gives me hope!! ❤️❤️❤️ Wolf is still hospitalized for now, but hoping he recovers enough to come home soon. He is just such an old man. Stuff like this can be extra tricky, but he has a history of miracle-ing himself.
