Realized it thirty seconds too late.

Spent the next hour in pure panic waiting to get fired.

Instead, my CEO called me.

CEO: Can you come to my office?

Me: (walking to my execution)

Me: I'm so sorry about that email.

CEO: Don't be. How long have you been feeling like this?

Me: Six months.

CEO: Why didn't you say anything?

Me: Because admitting burnout feels like admitting failure.

CEO: (pause)

CEO: It's not. It's admitting you're human.

She gave me two weeks off. Paid.

CEO: Figure out what you need. Come back when you're ready.

Me: You're not firing me?

CEO: Why would I fire someone honest enough to accidentally tell the truth?

I took the time. Rested. Therapy. Slept for days.

Came back different.

CEO: Better?

Me: Yeah. Thanks for not making that email the end.

CEO: (pause)

CEO: Twelve people emailed me after yours. All said they felt the same way but were too scared to say it.

Me: Really?

CEO: Your accident started a conversation we needed.

She implemented mental health days after that.
