New Adsy Talks ๐๏ธ
Anthony Fedosenko sits down with Kristina Frunze, founder of WebView SEO, to talk about what good SEO looks like beyond the traffic graph.
They talk about:
๐ Why growing traffic can still hide a conversion problem
๐ฏ The SEO metrics Kristina actually pays attention to
๐ค Where AI search fits into an SEO strategy
๐ Why bottom-of-funnel content matters so much right now
๐ก How to create content with real expertise when generic content is everywhere
๐ Why attribution is getting increasingly messy

I think weโve become a little too obsessed with making marketing easier ๐
Templates, automation, AI, more content with less workโฆ ๐ค
Meanwhile, the ideas competitors canโt easily copy are usually the annoying ones. They take creativity, some risk, and actual effort. ๐
Tim Soulo talks about this really well in our latest episode. ๐ก๐๏ธ

I keep seeing people worry that theyโre behind because they havenโt tried every new AI tool yet. ๐ค
Meanwhile, weโre getting really good at learning tools and maybe not spending enough time learning marketing itself. ๐
@timsoulo Soulo talks about this in our latest Adsy Talks, and Iโm with him on this one.
Tools change fast. Good judgment doesnโt come from a subscription. ๐ง

Apple changes a few things and calls it a new iPhone.
Marketers add โAI-poweredโ to the same old strategy and call it innovation.
So yeahโฆ maybe we shouldnโt laugh too hard. ๐
Maybe the strategy needs an actual update too. ๐
New sites, new audiences, new opportunities to get seen.
That upgrade is on Adsy โ https://t.co/ZzPJA0pwkm ๐ฆ
Very happy about our new Adsy Talks guest ๐
Tim Soulo, CMO at Ahrefs.
The episode is called โAI Canโt Turn a Bad Marketer Into a Good One,โ which gives you a pretty good idea of where this conversation goes ๐
AI, content, Google, brand, attribution, and a lot of marketing โrulesโ Tim doesn't really believe in.

I think being very close to a product can actually make it harder to explain. ๐
You know exactly why every feature matters, so you assume other people will connect the same dots. Most customers won't.
April Dunford has a very simple test for this: keep going until you can explain how the feature helps someone make money, save money, or reduce risk. ๐ฏ
That made me think about how often we stop at โwhat it doesโ instead of getting to โwhy I'd care.โ ๐ก
We talked about this and a lot more in our latest Adsy Talks. ๐๏ธ

I think companies sometimes put way too much pressure on themselves to create a โnew category.โ ๐
Salesforce didn't invent CRM. They found a part of the existing market that wasn't being served well, gave those customers a clear reason to choose them, and grew from there. ๐ฏ
@aprildunford brought up this example in our new Adsy Talks, and I loved how practical the idea is. You don't always need to teach people a completely new category. Sometimes it's smarter to start with something they already understand and show them why you're different. ๐ก
She also gets into HubSpot, Snowflake, and why category creation can be a much bigger gamble than it looks. ๐๏ธ

Youโre bringing in leads, but sales still needs 2โ3 calls to explain why someone should choose you.
More demand might not be the answer.
๐๏ธ In the new Adsy Talks, we sat down with April Dunford, one of the biggest names in B2B positioning, to talk about why positioning problems can easily look like marketing problems.
Itโs a really good conversation for anyone in marketing or sales whoโs ever wondered, โWhy arenโt people getting it?โ

SEO can bring people to your site. But trust needs more than rankings.
Good content, relevant mentions, PR, and showing up in the right places all help.

AI made content easier to produce. It also made lazy content easier to spot. ๐ค
Something Belinda Conde said stuck with me: AI visibility isn't a few tricks to get ChatGPT to cite you.
SEO, links, PR, brand, social, Reddit... it all adds up. ๐
Makes me think we need fewer โAI hacksโ and better marketing. ๐งฉ๐

I keep seeing people say โAI is replacing Googleโ, but this point from Belinda Conde actually made me think twice.
Turns out itโs not that simple.
Traditional search is still growing. AI search is growing too.
And honestly, that matches how I use it myself: Iโll Google something, then ask ChatGPT, then maybe check Reddit, and then go back to Google again before I decide.
So itโs not really about one replacing the other. Search isnโt going anywhere, itโs just more fragmented now. ๐

๐Nike didn't have to spell out the connection between Michael Jordan and the brand.
They just put Jordan and Nike together so many times that your brain made the connection for you. ๐ง
That's the interesting bit: you don't have to consciously remember an ad for a brand to become familiar to you. Sometimes you just keep seeing the same names, faces, ideas and associations until they start to feel like they belong together.
Mordy Oberstein gets into this and a lot more in our latest Adsy Talks episode - including how those unconscious associations shape the choices we make.

Everyone wants GEO advice.
Mordy Oberstein thinks most brands have a much bigger problem:
They don't know who they are.
In our new Adsy Talks episode, we discuss:
โข why AI exposed old marketing problems instead of creating new ones;
โข why websites still matter;
โข why brand identity comes before positioning;
โข and why chasing every new acronym won't help.
One of my favorite conversations we've recorded.

I really enjoyed this conversation with Miruna Dragomir.
As someone who talks to marketers every day, I appreciate people who are willing to share not only what worked, but also what they got wrong.
Miruna does exactly that.
She shares lessons from Oracle, Uber, and Planable, including mistakes she'd never repeat and what those experiences taught her.
If you haven't watched the full episode yet, I definitely recommend it.

"We posted on LinkedIn (X, Reddit, pick yours). Sent an email. Time to go viral."
Miruna Dragomir says that's how too many launches end. ๐
In the new #AdsyTalks episode, we get into why campaigns lose momentum after launch and what real distribution actually looks like.

๐ฑ Most of what teams call "strategy" is just noise nobody's validated. This rapid-fire round proved it in under 2 minutes.
My colleague Anthony sat down with @DragomirMiruna , CMO at @planable , on Adsy Talks, and honestly, some of these answers are painfully good.
A few that stuck with me:
โ Most useless "best practice" teams still follow: repurposing everything
โ Marketing belief she disagrees with completely: "everything is scalable"
โ What startups copy from big companies that quietly kills them: fancy stuff with a fraction of the budget
โ What big companies copy from startups that makes it worse: trying to be cool (and killing it in 10 rounds of approvals)
My personal favorite: teams launching a recurring content series, calling it "strategy," and quietly abandoning it after 3 posts because nobody's actually watching every Friday on the dot. Felt that one.
