A fantastic read! This book follows Billy, 11, who loves jokes and dreams of being a comedian but his stammer is holding him back. Does it have to? It’s funny yet endearing and heartwarming, and deals with bullying, insecurities, friendship, kindness and empathy. @HelenRutterUK
@HelenRutterUK I just wanted to let you know that our 9 year old is loving The Boy With Big Decisions. (As are we). We’re going to go back in and make different choices tonight.
@PrimarySchoolBC@scholasticuk Thanks for having me. 📚❤️✨ If any teachers want video messages for their class or to get in touch then you can message me via my website at https://t.co/6qPeblCHRr
@BarbaraEvaV@PrimarySchoolBC@scholasticuk It started because my first book was inspired by my son and then my publisher wanted me to write more boys. I think boys reading is on the decline and they seem to give up reading at about the age that my books are aimed at, so I really want to try and keep them engaged.
@BarbaraEvaV@PrimarySchoolBC@scholasticuk If you ever want to teach branching narratives then have a look at twine. It’s the website that helped me plot the book. Kids love it!!
@PrimarySchoolBC@HelenRutterUK@scholasticuk A2a/b This book would prompt so many discussions in pshe and when discussing well-being, mental health, growing up.The way the plot is constructed gives chn agency on the story, promoting self-reflection & ethical enquiry, thinking about choices-consequences. #PrimarySchoolBookClub
@BarbaraEvaV@PrimarySchoolBC@scholasticuk Yeah it was a challenge not to repeat too much in the various strands but keep each one strong enough to stand alone. It was a tricky write that’s for sure!!
