Well done to @corkcountyfire for having yesterday's fire in #Cobh under control. Plenty of unhealthy smoke reached housing areas. We measured - breathing this can be as bad as smoking a cigarette!

I've been kept too busy to share this until now. I took a trip to Killarney National Park to collect data on the wildfires while they were happening. This is air pollution as I travelled on the evening of Sunday 25th, over multispectral satellite data showing the burned area.

This fancy Tedlar® plastic bag is one way we can sample #AirPollution from #wildlandfires (fire at Kilbride Army Camp, thanks to @FireWicklow)🔥🔥 We fill it with a small pump & analyze it in the lab to identify molecular markers specific of #biomassburning.
