だんじり祭には300年以上の歴史があるというが
昔からあんな猛スピードで走っていたわけではない

もともとは五穀豊穣を願う神事として始まった岸和田のだんじり祭

現在のように猛スピードで交差点を曲がる「やりまわし」が発達したのは、昭和初期に道路が拡張されてからだという

地元の荒くれ達の承認欲求が伝統的な祭りを変な方向にエスカレートさせていった歴史が垣間見える

数トンもある巨大なだんじりを、人間が全力疾走して引っ張り回す
当然、制御を失えば重大事故につながる

実際に死亡事故も起きているし、建物や道路設備などを巻き込む事故もある

危険な走り方を見直すべきだという声が、地域の内外から上がるのは当然

「もうやめて欲しい」と思っている人だって地元に絶対いるはず

そもそも五穀豊穣を願う祭りでなぜ人が命を落とすの？？？

別にだんじり祭そのものをやめろと言っているわけじゃない
ゆっくり曳いても祭りはできるし、伝統だって守れる

でも、もうそれだけでは満足できなくなっている刺激と承認欲求に飢えた荒くれ達がいるということでしょう

そんな世界では「声の大きな者」の意見がまかり通る

もはや行政が主体となって安全な曳行のあり方を見直す段階に来ているんじゃないだろうか

Cynthia Morgan drove a school bus in Harford County, Maryland for 11 years.

Parents say she bought every kid on her bus school supplies, Christmas gifts and birthday cards, all out of her own pocket.

Then one day on a quiet country road, a student spotted an injured kitten. She pulled over and let him go get it.

After that, she was pulled off her route.

Was it by the book? No. Even the parents backing her say so. But this was a rural road with very little traffic, and a kid learned that you don't drive past something that's hurting.

That's the lesson we should want our kids to learn. Instead, the adult who taught it is off the bus.

The parents have started a petition to bring her back. I'm with them.

A community dog was reportedly seen limping and bleeding. Photographs & video are available. The dog was subsequently found dead, with its body reportedly dumped behind B Block.

The critical questions are now evidentiary:

Who injured the dog? Was veterinary treatment sought? Who handled, removed or transported the animal? Under whose authority? What records exist?

@IITHyderabad MUST PRESERVE CCTV, security logs, access records and all relevant evidence immediately.

@TelanganaCOPs @TelanganaDGP — take cognisance, secure the evidence and investigate the circumstances of the injury, death and disposal of the body.

@AwbiBallabhgarh @PetaIndia — please take cognisance and seek an urgent report.

Any action concerning community dogs must comply with the applicable animal-welfare framework. If unlawful cruelty or killing is established, appropriate legal action must follow.

Preserve the evidence. Establish the facts. Fix responsibility.
